Periodontology
It applies the examination and treatment of the problems that occur in the tissues surrounding
the teeth; It is one of the branches of dentistry that examines and treats gingival diseases and provides gingival aesthetics.
It cannot be expected that every individual who does daily oral and dental cleaning will
experience periodontological problems as high as 90%. Because if our teeth are not cleaned
from food residues and residues, dental plaques will form in our mouth. As it is known, dental
plaques are harmful to our oral and dental health. It is the biggest enemy that rots our teeth
in the first place. Again, these dental plaques cause great damage to the tissues surrounding our teeth.
When dental plaques are not cleaned regularly, the microorganisms formed in them reproduce over
time and cause them to adhere to the gums. Microbes and bacteria that go deeper and deeper begin
to penetrate the bone. Bacteria that penetrate the bone become infection. If precautions are not
taken at this stage and this situation is not treated, our tooth roots can no longer hold onto the
bone and may fall out. As can be seen, gingival diseases that are not taken into account cause serious
tooth loss. Studies show that the cause of tooth loss in an adult is due to gum problems rather than dental
caries, contrary to what is known.
In fact, there is a very simple way to prevent tooth loss. This is a daily mouth and teeth cleaning.
Just as we wash our hands after meals and do body cleaning at regular intervals, we also need to
clean our mouth and teeth. It is very important to brush our teeth, especially before going to bed at
night. Usually, bacteria find the opportunity to multiply in the dark at night. It is important not to
neglect the use of dental floss at regular intervals.
